AL-QURRAA’ STUDENTS SHINE ON OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE DAY
Al-Qurraa’ College recently took learning beyond the classroom walls: our students participated in an Outdoor Experience Day, featuring an endurance trek and an educational visit to a local poultry farm.
The day was more than a break - it was a powerful blend of adventure, teamwork and real-world learning. As many experts on schooling note, field trips and farm visits transform abstract lessons into tangible experiences.
From Trekking Trails to Poultry Pens
-
The supervised endurance trek challenged students physically and mentally. It called on them to cooperate, support one another, and display discipline - key values we nurture at Al-Qurraa’.
-
At the poultry farm, students observed and learned practical lessons in poultry management: feeding routines, hygiene practices, animal care and general farm operations.
Rather than reading about agriculture from a textbook, our students saw it, smelled it, touched it - the kind of “hands-on learning” that education experts say boosts understanding, engagement and long-term retention.
What Students Gained
-
A deeper appreciation for agriculture and food production - from farm to table. Such exposure builds respect for the labor behind everyday food and may inspire responsible eating or even agribusiness interests.
-
Enhanced teamwork, collaboration, and social skills - through group trekking and shared exploration of the farm. Outdoor trips provide social and emotional development that complements classroom learning.
-
Improved observational and practical skills. Seeing the real-world process fosters better understanding than theoretical lessons alone, especially in science and agriculture.
-
A memorable, meaningful experience that will likely stay with them - making learning more effective and inspiring.
Gratitude and Recognition
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents for their support and trust, and to the farm staff for their warm welcome, guidance, and patience.
At Al-Qurraa’, we believe that education isn’t just about exams and books - it’s about nurturing responsible, curious, capable young people. With activities like this Outdoor Experience Day, we continue to set the standard for 21st-century experiential education.
We look forward to many more such initiatives where learning meets life.
