Al-Qurraa’ College Celebrates Qur’an Memorisation Milestone of SS2 Student
Al-Qurraa’ College today celebrated a remarkable academic and spiritual milestone as one of its current students, Umar Luqman (SS2), successfully completed the full memorisation of the Noble Qur’an.
To honour this achievement, the school organised a mini appreciation programme, carefully adjusting the day’s timetable to ensure the event commenced by 3:00pm and concluded smoothly by 4:00pm. The programme, however, ended earlier than scheduled at 3:50pm, reflecting the discipline and order that characterised the gathering.
As part of the arrangement, school activities closed at 3:00pm instead of the usual 3:30pm, allowing selected students and staff to attend the programme in the school’s main hall. Attendance was intentionally limited to ensure a calm and respectful atmosphere for the occasion.
A Moment of Reflection and Gratitude
The programme featured an admonition delivered by the School Director, who also listened to Umar recite the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah — the final portion he memorised. These verses are especially significant, containing the longest verse in the Qur’an and marking a powerful conclusion to his memorisation journey.
Umar’s families, including his parents and all siblings were present to witness and share in this memorable moment. His father delivered a brief but heartfelt address, expressing gratitude to Allah and appreciation to the school for its role in nurturing his son’s growth.
A Journey of Patience and Consistency
Umar began his Qur’an memorisation journey while still in Primary 1, completing it over a span of approximately eight to ten years while remaining a full-time student.
In a short interview conducted during the programme, Umar described the journey as gradual and demanding. He explained that memorisation did not happen all at once — there were moments of progress, pauses due to other responsibilities, and periods of renewed commitment. Through patience, discipline, and perseverance, he ensured the journey was completed.
His story stands as a powerful lesson: consistency, even when slow, leads to lasting success.
A Versatile and Well-Rounded Learner
Beyond Qur’anic memorisation, Umar Luqman is widely known within the school community for his broad intellectual curiosity and technical competence. He has strong interests and practical experience in:
-
Backend software development
-
Game development
-
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
-
Cybersecurity
-
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
He is proficient in multiple programming languages, including C, C++, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.
In addition, Umar has a deep passion for Arabic language and Islamic knowledge, speaks fluent Arabic and English, and shows strong potential as a future Islamic scholar — a rare and admirable blend of deen and contemporary knowledge.
A Reflection of Al-Qurraa’s Vision
Umar Luqman’s achievement reflects the core mission of Al-Qurraa’ College: raising students who are spiritually grounded, academically sound, intellectually curious, and prepared to contribute meaningfully to the Ummah and the wider world.
We pray that Allah preserves Umar upon the Qur’an, makes it a light for him in this world and the Hereafter, and grants many more of our students similar success.
